PVES reading specialists took a week out of their summer break to take a Structured Language Basics workshop (SLB).
This five-day Structured Literacy training provides second and third-grade teachers with a multisensory, scripted reading curriculum that meets the needs of a variety of students, from reading-disabled to gifted.
SLB features instruction in phonological awareness, phonics, oral reading fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, grammar, handwriting, and spelling. Advanced syllable division and root-and-affix instruction prepares students to confidently attack multisyllabic words. Grammar instruction helps students develop strong sentence writing skills, which eventually lead to strong paragraph composition.
Thankful for dedicated teachers gaining skills to Ensure No Child Struggles to Read!
