Yesterday, Mr. Pullen accompanied 34 students who competed in an interscholastic meet at ECU in Ada. Pauls Valley students brought home 21 awards!
Mr. Pullen would like to bring special attention to the Creative Advertising test as three students (Lynna Tomlinson, Aatma Patel, and Anna Hamilton) not only won 1st place in arguably the most challenging test of the day, but the professors in charge of the contest found him to tell him "Those three students were some of the best we have ever seen. They performed better than most college seniors, and we have not been able to stop talking about their presentation."
Mr. Pullen would also like to thank all of the faculty and staff at Pauls Valley Schools for their work to help educate our students so that they can perform at such a high level.
Every student on the attached list has qualified for the State Scholastic Meet in May.

This Good News was shared by Pauls Valley Assistant Band Director Hannah Wilson. We are very proud of our students and cannot wait to see what the rest of this school year contains for the PRIDE of the Valley!
This past Wednesday, the "Pride of the Valley" traveled to McAlester for the OSSAA Regional Marching Competition. I am pleased to announce that our band received straight 1s from our three judges to achieve an overall superior rating (1), the highest possible rating a band can receive. This is the 12th consecutive year the band has brought home a superior rating from the Regional Competition! This achievement also sets us up to bring home another Sweepstakes Award this spring, so stay tuned!
This past Saturday, the band traveled to Holdenville for the Holdenville Blue & Gold Marching Classic, their final competition for the season. This is a prelims-finals style competition where the band must perform twice in one day. Their first performance pitted them against 20 other bands, with the top 12 highest-scoring bands continuing into finals. Not only did our band make finals, but they also swept all caption awards for their class in the preliminary competition, which included:
Outstanding Drum Major
High Percussion
High Visual
High Music
1st Place, class 4A Gold
The band represented exceptionally well in the finals competition and performed to the best of their abilities. The crowd and the judges were blown away by the energy we brought and the attention to detail in our show. I am pleased to announce that our "Pride of the Valley" is this year's CHAMPIONS of the Holdenville Blue & Gold Marching Classic!! Elgin also tied with our band for the title of champion, which is a massive compliment as they are a 5A school with a high-caliber program filled with more students AND a color guard. Our band also took home the High Visual and High Percussion captions in the finals competition.
This win was a big deal for our band after coming up short to Elgin last year, and we could not be more proud. If you see a band kid, please be sure to congratulate them. They have worked extremely hard this year, and I could not be more pleased with how everything turned out!
