Jackson Elementary Administration
Mitzi Winters is principal at Jackson Elementary School. She has taught 1st grade for two years, 4th grade for three years, Pre-K for four years, and was a middle school principal for six years. Winters earned her degrees from East Central University in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, and Public School Administration.
She is married to Chris and they have a son, a daughter, and four grandchildren. She says family occupies most of her time, but she likes to read, do crafts, cook, and go to the lake to fish and play.
Winters' philosophy of education is: All children can learn. Her goal is that each teacher creates a productive learning environment where children will feel safe to take risks and try new things. By creating an environment of mutual respect and acceptance within the classroom and school, each child can reach an educational peak every day. Teachers and staff can help create students who are good, responsible citizens. Students should be empowered with the tools to become the best that they can be. Jackson Elementary School believes that each child should leave here believing in themselves and knowing that, with work, they can become achievers.
