ALTERNATIVE ACADEMY ADMINISTRATION
Alternative Academy: Principal
Theola Jackson has been Principal of Alternative Academy for 12 years. Her experiences include teaching special education for 21 years and District Special Education Coordinator for three years. Jackson earned her Bachelors and Masters Degrees as well as her Administration Certification through East Central University in Ada, Ok. She is married to Victor and they have two daughter, Cecila (Alfred) Baldwin, and Torey Jackson and three lovely grandchildren. Her hobbies include exercising, reading, movies, yard work and spending time with family.
Jackson’s philosophy of education is: Education embodies the total being—physically, mentally and spiritually; it is more than academics. It is a responsibility that is shared with parents and students. Parents are responsible to care for their children in such a way that they are physically, emotionally and mentally present while they are in school. An educator must model the character traits he/she wants students to emulate. Education is giving students the tools they need to maneuver through life. Teachers must help students visualize and believe in the opportunities an education can offer and make them aware of the difference it can make in lives. When students take ownership of their education, they take ownership of their futures.
